Bergen County’s Star-Spangled Spectacular
On this year’s sunny July 4th, Bergen County’s 2nd Annual Star-Spangled Spectacular hosted by the Bergen County Executive James Tedesco and the Board of Commissioners, took place at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park. The event brought massive crowds as approximately ten thousand residents from all over the county, as well as local and state officials gathered to share and celebrate the day of American Independence with their loved ones. It was a day full of happiness and memory making with a variety of foods, activities, and entertainment for all.
Food Trucks
As the event kicked off at 2pm, food trucks were all around the park event area ready to serve attendees. A multitude of foods were available to indulge in from pizza, empanadas, falafel, burgers, fries, shrimp, skewers, and fresh meat sandwiches, as well as refreshing drinks and sweet treats like brownies, bobba, and ice cream to name a few.
Kids Activities
Upon entering the event space, you were greeted with countless activities for the kids. From face painting to inflatable slides, obstacle courses, mechanical bulls, and basketball hoops. Entertainers also walked along the entire premise showcasing their best juggling tricks, plate spinning acts, and more.
Beer & Wine Garden
For the adults who were looking to sip on a cup of beer and cheers for American Independence, the beer garden provided the proper atmosphere. Individuals at the beer garden vibed to the music, talked, and cooled off as they drank their beverages over tables that were under patches of shade.
Live Music
The live music was the true backbone of the event with two stages and music for everyone to enjoy. At 2:30pm the Glenn Roberts Country Band kicked off the event. The band was engaging and played some of country’s catchiest and most well-known tunes, perfect for country music lovers.
Following the Glenn Roberts Country Band came the Tempo Alegre Latin Band. Tempo Alegre made guests get up on their feet and dance to lively Latin music from the genres of merengue, bachata, and salsa.
The Super Trans Am Band brought a different energy to the crowd as they drummed, played the keyboard, and strummed their electric bass and guitars in true 70s rock and roll style.
As the last group of the night before the fireworks, the New Jersey Wind Symphony was nothing short of wonderful, providing a talented performance with a wide mix of wind musician talent.
Fireworks
It wouldn’t have been a 4th of July celebration without ending the day with a dazzling firework show that commenced at 9:30pm. The fireworks themselves were spectacular; they were of all sizes and colors and filled the entire broad sky with incredible light. Families and friends watched the sky in awe as they cheered, recorded, and enjoyed the show, bringing joy all the way to the end of the Independence Day event.
